My name is Andrea Duncan and I am a master’s student at the University of Alaska Southeast and currently attending ED 230 Introduction to Educational Technology. I have spent a lot of time this term researching and learning about different technologies used in education. We spent time thinking about technology in many ways, while also doing our own work in using different platforms to learn. I have never created a mind map using a computer or program, so working to create one in MindMeister was a first for me. I was able to play around with it and figure out ways to build a map that could connect different topics and made my thoughts visible for others to see. You will find the link and photo of my mind map under the Artifacts page.
I was also able to learn about VoiceThread and created one on the topic of the Flipped Classroom with my group. One of my professors uses VoiceThread to give us additional slides and information about history, but I had never created one myself. I think VoiceThread is a wonderful program on many different levels, it has adaptive technology tools to help students with disabilities learn, is interactive, allows for work to be done at home, and for students to work at their own time and pace. I will be using this program in the future. You can find my VoiceThread link under the Artifacts page as well.
Check out my webpage and find many different programs, apps, and information I learned about this term, along with my latest blog post. I hope you enjoy my page and are able to see some of the things I learned while attending ED230 Introduction to Educational Technology.
